3. The Butterfly Woman

This project is currently one of Emily's passion projects. This collection aims to spread awareness about Sexual Assault while highlighting the community that can be found amongst other survivors. By using butterflies as a metaphor for the change one can go through after being sexually abused, Emily highlights the painful truth of many women while demonstrating the support and healing that can be found in sharing your story with others. This project would not have been possible without the support and commitment from many strong individuals in her life.

4. And The Streets Were Full Of Tourists And Locals

This collection of images was inspired by the everyday locals in NYC, Emily wanted to capture the reality of visiting NYC from a bystanders point of view rather than the heavily edited tourist perspective. Emily captures real people living their everyday life throughout the chaos in the city. Most of these images are unedited as they are aimed to capture the reality of NYC. Accompanying these images is a slideshow curated with the sounds of city-life to enhance the viewers realistic experience and understanding of NYC.

5. Growing Pains

This piece deals with the societal pressures that arise throughout late teens and early adulthood. Emily attempts to connect with her audience while dealing with her own body image issues in order to find a sense of community through shared struggle. She also hopes to spark conversation around body image and the pressure society puts on young women especially in the age of social media.

6. Frozen In Time

Frozen In Time explores the period of time directly after the excitement and dopamine filled buzz of the holidays specifically in the midwest. The snow continues well past February, the trees are barren and grey, and the water lay frozen in time. The people in your life start to reach out less, gatherings become more infrequent, and the source of temporary dopamine dries up leaving you feeling like the frozen waters.

7. Pretty Isn't Pretty Enough Anyway

This project was inspired by Olivia Rodrigo's song "Pretty Isn't Pretty" and directly deals with the themes of the song. Societal beauty standards have been, and always will be, changing constantly. Can any one person ever truly be deemed pretty if the very meaning of the word itself is never definitive? The subject starts out as stereotypically pretty but slowly starts to lose her autonomy and with it her happiness and self control. After having a breakdown the subject realizes that she has ultimate control over what she thinks is pretty and that ultimately her opinion is the only one that matters. Finally, the subject holds up a mirror to the audience forcing themselves to look within and analyze how they have been directly and indirectly participating and perpetrating these societal bounds, before breaking the mirror.

8. Person, Place and Things

This collection of images are fragments of Emily's daily life. Each one serves as a different emotion that ranges from love, loneliness, joy, friendship, and grief. Although a seemingly random compilation of pictures, this collection offers viewers a look into Emily's daily life as well as pieces of her past that make up who she is.
